Stress

Stress is a biological term which refers to the consequences of the failure of a human or animal body to respond appropriately to emotional or physical threats to the organism, whether actual or imagined. It includes a state of alarm and adrenaline production, short-term resistance as a coping mechanism, and exhaustion. It refers to the inability of a human or animal body to respond. Common stress symptoms include irritability, muscular tension, inability to concentrate and a variety of physical reactions, such as headaches and accelerated heart rate.

Everyone is familiar with stress, The economy  and  other problems are really stressing out. Stress has been described as harmful to 1 health. The field of psychoneuroimmunology focuses on the influence of behavior on the interactions between the central nervous system, the endocrine system, and the immune system, and the impact on health. Effects on the immune system by one’s behavior are mediated by a complex network of signals functioning in the bidirectional communication between the nervous, endocrine, and immune systems. It was initially observed that the experience of stress has suppressive effects on the immune system. Recent data, however, have suggested that the magnitude and direction of this effect may be dependent on the characteristics and timing of the stressor. In general, acute stressors (tend to stimulate the activity of the immune system, while chronic stressors suppress the immune response. The fact that acute stressors upregulate certain components of the immune response does not necessarily mean that the outcome is beneficial. For example, an acute stressor may produce or exacerbate skin allergies. Aside from the duration of the stressor, the nature of the stressor itself tends to have differing effects on various aspects of the immune system. effective stress management must fit the unique needs of the individual.
