Next Step for Healthcare Reform

Health care reform is one of the biggest issues affecting this country at the present time. Unemployment is rising and along with it the number of uninsured Americans is also on the rise. This is leading to more pressure on the Federal Government to “do something”. President Obama has promised to make changes and completely reform and revamp the US Health Care system, although the changes will begin soon, it is anticipated that he will put forth a long term plan that will perhaps not see all American’s insured for about a decade. During this time, changes will be made gradually to make the changes necessary to reform the health care system.
As we move toward some type of reform health insurance companies and health care workers are wondering how they will be impacted. There is a model on the table right now which mandate insurance coverage for all Americans. This model is appealing to the large insurance companies like Blue Cross Blue Shield because then there is a wide pool of risk. But if this is not what goes into law the other version may allow people to delay enrollment until they are ill, and this would increase costs for those already covered under the insurance.
The model which provides the mandated insurance for all would allow the insurance companies a larger pool of enrollees over which the risk would be spread. That would provide the companies more money to satisfy claims and provide services. The really great news from this would be that pre existing clauses would disappear if all Americans are covered in this reform model.

Stories like this wouldn’t necessarily have to exist if everyone just exercised their option to not let the country’s system be your only hope. I’ve been suffering with BPD for over 10 years, and the financial pain is enough to deserve a prescription itself. Buy everything online from foreign pharmacies and 1/2 your troubles are solved. I know it is lame to plug companies and such, but I’ve been buying from one for so long (an Indian Pharmacy; here, for those of you that care… I’m a devout Christian and we believe in helping others, unlike your average amoral corporate scumbag)… you have no idea how much more energy I can focus on actually living my life instead of dealing with insurance and the rest of the scammers in the pharmaceutical companies who want to charge hundreds upon hundreds of dollars per month for a bottle that weighs a few ounces. It’s really quite ridiculous, and I’ve decided not to be part of that anymore.
